How Lync Connects People at UNC-CH and Beyond

Campus IT professionals and faculty wanting to learn more about the features of Microsoft Lync may use the following resources discussed during the May 2014 CTC Update.

  • CTC Update Lecture Capture – Recorded presentation and audio via Echo360. In this room, as configured, video recording is also possible through the lecture capture appliance as well as through Lync.
  • Requirements for Using the Lync Web App – Resource page sent out to clients requesting Lync for their remote participants
  • Federation Directory – List of organizations that also utilize Lync whom we can directly connect to
  • Equipment in use at the School of Medicine:
    • Jabra Speak 410 MS – Conference microphone used in SOM rooms without Lync integration
    • Fully-Integrated Rooms:
      • Vaddio A/V Bridge – USB device that takes audio and video allowing it to be used as a ‘webcam’ type device on computer
      • Vaddio PTZ Cameras
      • Polycom Ceiling Array Microphones
